The festive outfits were Blair’s idea, but they love her, so they humored her. Except Iris, because she’s already green and I don’t have baby outfit mods, and Buddy, because he’s a mean-spirited spoilsport.

Ooh, such a cute and quirky family! dad, mom, plant daughter, alien son, regular son, regular son’s magical imaginary friend, big daughter that looks more like she should be the dad’s twin sister, son-in-law that would propably still be considered an honorary family member if the big daughter and the son-in-law were in gay (or “lesbigay”) relationships, and the grandson.
Technically, only Boyd, Blair, Patrick, Orion, and Chris are Wainwrights, because the surname comes from Boyd’s lineage. If I heard about Wainwrights in like Lunar Lakes, I’d imagine tealish\greenish white hair, light or pale skin, angle-y heart-shaped faces, purple\violet\indigo-y eyes (or alternatively, VERY blue) with squinty eyelids, and noses that are pretty much 0-slidered, because that’s what Boyd’s signature genetics are. The wispy upturned green-grey eyes are all Bronte, and so is the upturned quirky triangular-shaped nose. And jug ears. That chestnut hair with orange and red streaks is’nt unique and can just as easily be Ursine. People can keep thinking of them as Wainwright Family genetics but that’s technically not true, they’re Bronte’s.
(On Carlsims3guide there was a Wainwright Legacy and a Schlick-Wainwright Legacy but they were both involving Susan’s genetics not Boyd’s. Which are what I consider as Bronte and not Wainwright. The /actual/ Wainwright side of the genetics is’nt getting enough love. More white hair than a Valyrian family reunion! Or the Strilondes from Homestuck! More interesting-looking than Vlas Scklick or Thronton Woflf or Jak Bnch or whoever is cool to bred Susnan with these days.)
And if Miriam Hoppcraft came with tealish\greenish\cyanish white hair, I’d headcanon her as being neé Wainwright and related to Boyd in an heartbeat.
Susan, Iris, and Cycl0n3 are in-laws, and Buddy could be considered a “imaginary twin brother” for Patrick. Making him an honorary Wainwright of sorts.

Susan and Cycl0n3 both married Wainwrights, so regardless of their surname, that makes them just as much family members as anyone genetically related to Boyd. Iris may be Susan’s daughter by pure family tree lineage, but she considers Boyd a father even if the panel says “step-father,” in the same way Orion considers Susan his mother despite her being “step-mother” and having Eni Jish Xip as his mother. Boyd and Susan are raising them both like they were both of theirs.
As for Buddy, well, he tags along, but he’s tied to Patrick through an occult bond, and his last name is Wainwright, so he counts as far as I’m concerned. As far as lineage goes, Chris is just as much a Wainwright as he is a Sw0rd, and Blair would be a member of the Sw0rd family in the same way Susan is a member of Boyd’s. Cycl0n3 just doesn’t happen to have any family members that aren’t connected to the Wainwright clan. (Sure, he probably does somewhere, but for story purposes, they aren’t around, and don’t live in Sunset Valley.)
I will be curious to see if Patrick, Orion, Chris, or Blair’s unborn baby pass on any grandparent genetics down the line. Orion’s coloring with Boyd’s hair would be cute, I think. Also, I’m hoping most of these kids will meet/marry sims born in the game who also have other townie genetics when they grow up. I’ve never had a game with several-generation original townie genetics. My legacy had pretty much all puddings once the originals died out, because I didn’t use any mods until several generations in.

2: Yup. Buddy’s an “imaginary Wainwright\Bronte”. This reminds me: last time I’ve played TS3, I had a CAS sim clone Susan. The clone was named Specimen 3,305, then I changed her name to Kairi Wainwright when I had to give her a first name, and then she changed her name to Kairi Bronte upon YA, since she’s pretty much a Bronte. The Bronte and Greenhouse maiden names need more love. When Kairi was Kairi Wainwright, she was given a IF doll who looked the same as Buddy’s IF form, and it was name Riley Wainwright, who was turned real and became a girl IF sim. Riley also changed her surname to Bronte. When Kairi and Riley went to change their surname to Bronte, Blair was on the lot so the three of them took a city hall picture together. I just don’t have TS3 nor the save anymore – I was only playing them because I did’nt have internet at the time.
I think that 3,305 was actually Kairi’s SimID, and that when Buddy turns real he’d have the same blue hair and cyan eyes Riley did. Also, Kairi was born with the Actractive LTR. Wonder if this is a clone thing or a glitch, since I did’nt have mods. Maybe it’s because the sim who cloned Kairi also had LTRs, but Actractive was’nt one of them.

The IF-as-human coloring has a match to how the doll is colored? I always thought it was random, and they always had 0-slider faces. I’ve only bothered turning IFs real a couple of times and didn’t end up playing them long. Buddy will remain an IF for the foreseeable future anyway.

Forgot to add, I never looked all that closely at Miriam Hoppcraft’s features, despite playing her for a bit. Personality wise she struck me more as Moonlight Falls’ version of Vita Alto. Same LTW and career, and both evil, though Vita strikes me as a bit more personable (and ruthless) than Miriam.
